Size advice and fit guide for dogs
The right fit matters for freedom of movement, comfort and everyday use. In this fit guide we explain which types of dog suit lumiies® well, how to measure correctly and how to find the right size without guesswork, including personal advice in the customer chat.
Why fit matters in dog apparel
Good dog apparel must not restrict. It should sit stretchy, comfortable and easy to move in, while running, playing, lying down and sleeping. The right size reduces rubbing, adds comfort and makes sure the function, warmth and protection, works reliably day to day.

Build and coat: what our patterns are made for
Freedom of movement instead of stiffness
Our products are designed to stretch. The aim is a feel like a second coat: comfortable, flexible and without stiff restriction, also on active dogs.
Warmth where it is needed
Dogs with little coat or no undercoat benefit in cool, cold or very cold weather. Your dog's behaviour always comes first: if he shivers or is visibly cold, apparel can make sense.
Typical dogs and breeds (examples)
lumiies® products are used most often by owners of these types of dog:
- sighthounds
- dachshunds
- poodles
- mixed breeds with a slim build
Note: examples, not a complete list. The measurements and the build always decide.
When standard sizes are difficult
Some dogs sit between two sizes or have a build that classic size charts struggle to cover. For that we offer several safe routes: measurement charts, the size configurator and personal advice in the customer chat.
Rule of thumb
If you are between two sizes, use the size configurator or the customer chat. You then get a clear recommendation based on your measurements.
How to measure correctly
Step 1: have your dog stand relaxed
Use a flexible tape measure. Your dog should stand calm and straight.
Step 2: take the relevant measurements
Take the values as our measurement charts and the size configurator set them out (for example back length, chest girth, depending on the product). It matters that you always measure at the same points.
Step 3: check the results
Compare the values with the measurement chart, or use the size configurator for a recommendation based on data.
Step 4: ask for advice if you are unsure
Real people advise in the customer chat. You can send measurements and photos, and our team helps you find the right size.

An honest limit
For very large or very stocky breeds, our current patterns may not fit well. In that case we say so honestly, and we are developing new patterns to cover more dogs in future.
