App recommendation: "GehGassi" – At the right time, in the right place
Walking the dog is often the highlight of a busy day. It offers the opportunity to relax, reflect on the day and recover. But sometimes a long day at work or unforeseen appointments prevent even the best dog parents from going for a walk on time. This is exactly where the "GehGassi" app comes in and offers an ideal solution to this problem.
The challenge
In the DACH region, over 12 million dogs have to be walked every day. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of dogs increased by 25%, and many of these animals now either end up in animal shelters or spend their days alone at home. This is where the "GehGassi" app comes into play - and it does so at the first click.
The solution: GehGassi app
"GehGassi" makes it possible to care for dogs quickly and lovingly whenever it is needed. With over 11,000 users within just eight months, the app does what many cannot: make dogs happy!
How the app works
Dog parents can either book a walk for their dog or care for several days. "GehGassi" matches dog owners with carers based on location, time, budget and preference. There are two booking options:
1. Direct booking: Similar to Uber, dog parents can book a walker directly.
2. Public request : Dog parents can create a public request to which suitable candidates can apply.
As soon as a match has been made, booking and payment are processed directly in the app. After the service has been completed, both the walkers and the dogs and their parents can be rated. This way, dogs get enough exercise while their owners can do their work without feeling guilty.
The founders
"GehGassi" was founded by Sophie Zimmermann and Kilian Wirl, both from Austria. The two have been together for several years and share a mixed breed dog, Pumba, whom they adopted in 2018. Due to their busy work schedules, they needed flexible dog care. Since they couldn't find a suitable provider, they decided to fill this gap themselves.
