With spring finally here, warmer temperatures are arriving and summer is already in sight. It's high time to think of ways to cool down, especially for our beloved dogs who need refreshment on hot days.
Since we love colorful things at lumiies®, we have a delicious recipe for a chic pink dog ice cream for you:
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe bananas
- 100 ml unsweetened and natural apple sauce (preferably homemade)
- 450 g soy yoghurt (no added sugar)
- 100 ml coconut milk (no added sugar)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 2 teaspoons peanut butter (no added sugar, no salt)
- 20 g oat flakes (optional)
- 1 teaspoon beetroot powder (colors the ice cream beautifully pink)
Directions:
1. Peel and mash the bananas in a bowl until smooth.
2. Add the apple sauce, soy yogurt, coconut milk and coconut oil. Mix well until smooth.
3. Add the peanut butter and stir until fully incorporated.
4. If desired, you can now add the oat flakes and stir in.
5. Add the beetroot powder and mix thoroughly to obtain an even pink color.
6. Pour the mixture into small silicone molds or ice cube trays. Make sure the molds are not too big so that the portions are dog-sized.
7. Place the molds in the freezer for at least 4 hours or overnight until the dog ice cream is firm.
8. To serve, take the molds out of the freezer and let them stand briefly at room temperature so that the ice cream can be removed from the molds more easily.
9. On a warm day, treat your dog to a piece or two of this delicious vegan dog ice cream and enjoy watching him gobble it up.
